Searching for ADF physical requirements, ADF beep test requirements or ADF BFA standards? Start by identifying the stage you are preparing for. A pre-entry assessment and an in-service fitness assessment are not interchangeable. Army, Navy and Air Force requirements can differ by role, and the official requirements linked above should guide your targets.
The PFA checks physical readiness before entry where required. Which assessment applies depends on the service and role. Entry testing is different from the fitness assessments and training you may complete after joining.
No. Current ADF Careers guidance says most Navy roles do not require a PFA before entry; Diver and Physical Training Instructor roles are exceptions. Navy training still has fitness and swimming requirements.
Requirements differ between role groups. Use the current ADF Careers fitness page and your recruiter’s instructions to identify your exercises and standards. Do not apply one general beep-test or repetition target to every applicant.
A consistent routine helps you prepare for physical training and the demands of working with others. Focus on sustainable progress and reliable technique. One disappointing practice result is a signal to adjust your preparation, not a judgement about your value to a team.
Begin with the official assessment instructions and a realistic view of your current fitness. Our courses cover shuttle-run preparation and structured training plans. Build progressively and seek individual guidance if you need help adapting exercise to your circumstances.
Ask your recruitment contact what happens next for your application. Review which component needs attention and allow enough time for appropriate training and recovery. Do not assume you can immediately retest or that one result ends every career option.
Army and Air Force courses each contain 11 modules; Navy contains 12. You receive exercise-technique guidance, embedded demonstrations, structured training plans and service-specific preparation topics. Navy also covers swimming preparation.
No. The courses provide structured programs and guidance for selecting an appropriate starting level. They do not include an individual assessment, personalised programming or live coaching.
