What does the $99 full preparation pack include?
All 10 JOA practice tests, the YOU Session preparation course and three fitness courses. Tests have 22-day access and courses have 90-day access. The separate purchase total is $190.94 AUD, so the pack saves $91.94.
Can I buy individual resources?
Yes. Choose a $12.99 JOA single test, the $47.99 nine-test pack, the $39.99 YOU Session course or a $29.99 fitness course. Add your selection to the cart before reviewing your order.
When does access begin?
Access begins after payment confirmation. Test and course access periods differ and are shown before purchase.
How do I access purchased materials?
Use Member Log in to access the account associated with your purchase. Your available tests and courses appear in the member area.
Are purchases subscriptions?
The listed products are one-time purchases with fixed access periods, not automatically renewing subscriptions.
Where can I find refund and privacy information?
Read the Terms & conditions and Privacy policy linked in the footer. For help with an order or access issue, contact admin@serviceprep.com.au.
Is Service Prep endorsed by the Australian Defence Force?
No. Service Prep is not connected to or endorsed by the Australian Defence Force and does not guarantee entry, a test score or a job offer.
Job Opportunities Assessment practice tests
What is the ADF Job Opportunities Assessment (JOA)?
The JOA is an online aptitude assessment used during ADF recruitment to help match applicants with suitable roles. Your result is considered alongside other entry requirements. It is an important step in exploring your Army, Navy or Air Force options.
How many questions are in the JOA and how long do I have?
The current ADF guide describes 51 questions and a 20-minute assessment, preceded by instructions and practice questions. Service Prep full practice tests use 51 questions and a 20-minute timer. Follow the instructions in your official invitation.
What reasoning skills can I practise here?
Our JOA practice tests include numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and abstract reasoning. Work on calculations, interpreting statements and recognising visual patterns, then review your practice answers.
Is this a free Job Opportunities Assessment practice test?
Yes. The eight-question quiz on this page is free, with no account or payment required. It shows your score and answer explanations after you finish. Full timed practice tests are separate paid products.
What score do I need to pass the JOA?
There is no single public score we can use to promise eligibility for every role. Discuss your Job Opportunities Report with your recruiter. A Service Prep quiz score is a practice result, not an ADF eligibility decision.
How many times can I take the official JOA?
The ADF guide revised in June 2025 states three attempts with at least six months between attempts. Further attempts require valid reasons accepted by the ADF. Confirm your own eligibility and timing with your recruiter.
Do I need to buy practice tests to apply to the ADF?
No. ADF Careers says the JOA assesses natural abilities, does not require study, and provides official example questions. Commercial practice is optional and is not endorsed by the ADF. Our tests offer an additional structured practice experience, without a score guarantee.
What is the difference between the single test and the 9-pack?
The single test contains 51 practice questions. The 9-pack contains nine different tests, totalling 459 questions. Both provide 22-day access. The $99 full preparation pack includes both products: all 10 tests and 510 questions.
Can I take the practice tests on my phone?
Service Prep is designed for phones, tablets and computers. The official JOA has separate device requirements: use the setup specified by ADF Careers rather than assuming a phone is supported.
What happens after my JOA results?
Use the Job Opportunities Report and your recruitment contact to discuss your options. Keep your Candidate Hub tasks current and prepare questions about the roles you are considering.
YOU Session preparation
What is the ADF YOU Session?
YOU stands for Your Opportunities Unlimited. ADF Careers describes a phone interview with a Careers Coach to discuss your background, eligibility, interests and career options. It is separate from the later Assessment Session interviews.
Why prepare for the YOU Session interview?
Preparation helps you explain your interests clearly and make better use of the conversation. Researching your preferred jobs and organising examples from your life gives you useful material to discuss and helps you identify questions to ask.
What YOU Session questions does the course cover?
The course provides prompts on motivation, job and training knowledge, fitness, ADF policies, service knowledge and officer entry. These are preparation topics, not a guaranteed script of the questions you will receive.
What is included in the YOU Session preparation course?
You receive 10 learning modules, eight embedded videos, guided question prompts and a preparation workbook, with 90 days of course access. Work through the material at your own pace in your Service Prep member area.
Will the course tell me exactly what the interviewer wants to hear?
There is no universal answer script that guarantees selection. The course helps you understand the topics, research your role and explain your own experience. Your answers should be accurate, personal and honest.
Is this a one-to-one mock interview service?
No. This is a self-paced online course with videos and a workbook. Live coaching and individual interview feedback are not included.
Is the YOU Session the psychological interview?
No. The Careers Coach conversation and later psychological and ADF interviews are different stages. Your recruitment contact will tell you which appointment you are attending and what to prepare.
How much is the course, and is it included in the bundle?
The YOU Session course is $39.99 AUD individually. It is also included in the $99 full pack alongside all 10 JOA practice tests and three fitness courses.
ADF fitness and PFA
What is the ADF Pre-entry Fitness Assessment (PFA)?
The PFA checks physical readiness before entry where required. Which assessment applies depends on the service and role. Entry testing is different from the fitness assessments and training you may complete after joining.
Does every Navy applicant need a PFA?
No. Current ADF Careers guidance says most Navy roles do not require a PFA before entry; Diver and Physical Training Instructor roles are exceptions. Navy training still has fitness and swimming requirements.
What are the Army and Air Force PFA requirements?
Requirements differ between role groups. Use the current ADF Careers fitness page and your recruiter’s instructions to identify your exercises and standards. Do not apply one general beep-test or repetition target to every applicant.
Why does fitness preparation matter?
A consistent routine helps you prepare for physical training and the demands of working with others. Focus on sustainable progress and reliable technique. One disappointing practice result is a signal to adjust your preparation, not a judgement about your value to a team.
How do I prepare for the ADF beep test?
Begin with the official assessment instructions and a realistic view of your current fitness. Our courses cover shuttle-run preparation and structured training plans. Build progressively and seek individual guidance if you need help adapting exercise to your circumstances.
What if I do not meet the required standard?
Ask your recruitment contact what happens next for your application. Review which component needs attention and allow enough time for appropriate training and recovery. Do not assume you can immediately retest or that one result ends every career option.
What do the fitness courses include?
Army and Air Force courses each contain 11 modules; Navy contains 12. You receive exercise-technique guidance, embedded demonstrations, structured training plans and service-specific preparation topics. Navy also covers swimming preparation.
Is the training plan customised for me?
No. The courses provide structured programs and guidance for selecting an appropriate starting level. They do not include an individual assessment, personalised programming or live coaching.
Who are these courses designed for?
People with baseline fitness knowledge who want a structured self-directed preparation resource. If you need individual technique instruction, rehabilitation or one-to-one support, seek a suitably qualified professional.
How long can I access the course?
Each fitness course has 90-day access from confirmed payment. You can revisit the learning modules during that period on a phone, tablet or computer.
Can I buy one fitness course without the bundle?
Yes. Army, Navy and Air Force courses are $29.99 AUD each. All three are included in the $99 full preparation pack.
Is the Service Prep app included now?
The mobile app is planned for a later release and is not currently available. Current purchases cover the website materials described on the product pages.
